INS Legacy

Tactical Gameplay Patch

Posted in insurgency by Argyll on December 23, 2008

Please download and try out the <TacU> Tactical Gameplay Patch, found here:

This patch does not contain files that will prevent or interrupt you from playing in any Insurgency server.;12525841;/fileinfo.html

What it does:

Most importantly, servers with the patch installed will have different gameplay than usual.  Reinforcements are limited, objectives more crucial.  No longer will teams have unlimited reinforcement – you have to fight for every life.

What is changed?

Sinjar: NO unlimited reinforcements for the defending insurgent team.  This will create a more defensive approach.

Buhriz: The US are repelling an insurgent offensive from the bridge and town.  Limited reinforcements for both teams.

Baghdad: Both teams begin at the extremes of the level, cutting down the predictable start.  All but one objective per team are neutral, and securing each is a boost in reinforcement, instead of both teams having unlimited.

You will also notice the US Marine MARPAT has changed to the US Army ACU combat uniforms, skinned by Luger.

How do I install it?

– Download the .rar file from the link above.
– Extract the files (maintain folder structure) to your ‘steamapps/’ directory. [to uninstall, simply delete the folders]

How do I host the patch?

Server admins: just upload the .imc2 files from the /maps/ directory on to your server and replace the originals.

Please put <TacU> in your server title to distinguish for players that your server is running the patch.

How do I play the patch?

You are only really playing with the patch on a server that is running the modified .imc2 files.  This means that it’s server-side, and everyone can play even without the patch installed.  Look for a server with <TacU> in its name!

So… what’s the difference?

This is the first release of this patch.  It is meant to bring out the most intense, tactical, and best gameplay Insurgency has to offer.  It matches the original focus and vision of the game – that being the primary competitive teamplay mod.  Of course, this cannot happen without teamwork and co-operation from your team and clan mates.  Communication is essential.

Let us know how to make the gameplay better!

Can I share this with others?

Absolutely.  Just send the link to this post to anyone interested in enhancing their Insurgency experience.

Make sure to join the ‘Insurgency Tactical Union’ and ‘INS Legacy’ Steam communities to play with other <TacU> patch users.

Just put the .imc2 on both our servers…. but only threw the tags on our regular map server, as our custom map server hardly ever gets to those maps! ;)

    Hi Argyll

delver pointed me to your site. Nice work. Im looking at implementing your tactical patch on one or more of The.O.C Gaming INS servers. I might create fresh versions as such (called ins_sinjar_argyll) if thats ok. then include it on map vote so people can choose to play the alternate version. Im not sure if I can add TacU to the server name but as our servers are named Desert Team: XXX I might call it Desert Team: Argyll’s Campaign or Tactical Campaign or something to reflect your work.

many thanks and keep up the good work!
